W9-28 High Temperature Centrifugal Fan

W9-28 High Temperature Centrifugal Fan

The W9-28 is a high temperature centrifugal fan designed for non-corrosive, non-self-igniting industrial hot-gas handling applications.
The series includes No.5–22 with C, D and F drive arrangements, covering published airflow from approximately 3,849 to 345,222 m³/h and total pressure from approximately 1,520 to 8,160 Pa.
According to the original technical documentation, the W9-28 series is suitable for conveyed-medium temperatures up to 550°C, with dust content below 150 mg/m³. Actual allowable working temperature varies by fan size and configuration, so final selection should be based on airflow, pressure, continuous and peak temperature, gas composition and installation conditions.

Description
Industrial Hot-Gas Handling
W9-28 High Temperature Centrifugal Fan

The W9-28 high temperature centrifugal fan is designed for industrial hot-gas handling where high efficiency, low noise, stable performance and a wide airflow adjustment range are required.

The series is intended for non-corrosive, non-self-igniting hot gases. According to the original product documentation, the series temperature limit is up to 550°C and the conveyed medium should contain less than 150 mg/m³ of dust.

Application Boundary

Where the W9-28 High Temperature Fan Fits

W9-28 is intended for industrial systems that must continuously move hot process gas while maintaining useful centrifugal-fan pressure capability. Typical project directions include furnace exhaust, kiln ventilation, thermal processing equipment, hot-air circulation and other non-corrosive high-temperature exhaust duties.

It forms part of QIYUE FAN's broader Boiler & High Temperature Fans product family.

Furnace Hot-Gas Exhaust

Extraction of non-corrosive hot gas from industrial furnaces and thermal-processing equipment.

Kiln & Thermal Process Ventilation

High-temperature ventilation where airflow and pressure must be maintained through a ducted system.

Industrial Hot-Air Systems

Process-air duties requiring a centrifugal fan designed around elevated operating temperatures.

Engineered Replacement

Replacement of an existing hot-gas fan where duty point, temperature, interfaces and foundation data can be confirmed.

Application limits matter.
W9-28 should not automatically be selected for strongly corrosive gases, self-igniting media, potentially explosive atmospheres or process streams with unknown dust characteristics. These conditions require a separate engineering review.

High-Temperature Selection

550°C Is a Series Limit, Not a Universal Operating Point

The original W9-28 series description states that conveyed-gas temperature should not exceed 550°C. However, the published performance data show different working temperatures for different fan sizes and mechanical arrangements.

This distinction is important because gas temperature changes density, fan pressure, absorbed power and the mechanical requirements of the fan. For the underlying selection logic, see How Gas Temperature Affects Industrial Fan Performance .

Always specify both continuous and maximum temperature.
A process operating continuously at 300°C with short temperature peaks is not the same selection problem as a system continuously operating near its maximum thermal limit.

Mechanical Configuration

One W9-28 Series, Multiple Drive Arrangements

W9-28 is not one mechanical design scaled through every size. The original catalogue includes C-, D- and F-type configurations depending on fan size and duty. Motor location, bearing arrangement, foundation layout and overall dimensions therefore vary across the series.

C

C-Type Arrangement

Published on the smaller No.5 configuration. Mechanical layout differs from the larger D- and F-type fans.

D

D-Type Arrangement

Used across several medium W9-28 sizes including No.7.6, No.9, No.11.2, No.14, No.15 and No.16 configurations.

F

F-Type Arrangement

Used for larger published configurations including No.16F, No.17F and No.22F.

The selected fan size and drive arrangement must therefore be confirmed before issuing the project GA drawing or preparing foundations.

Selection Logic

Read Airflow, Pressure, Temperature and Speed Together

A W9-28 model cannot be selected from airflow alone. Airflow and total pressure define the aerodynamic duty, while temperature changes the gas density and required power. Rotational speed and mechanical arrangement must then be checked against the selected configuration.

Buyers unfamiliar with industrial fan charts can first review How to Read a Fan Performance Curve .

STEP 01

Define Airflow

Specify required operating airflow in m³/h.

STEP 02

Define Pressure

Confirm system resistance and required total or static pressure.

STEP 03

Confirm Temperature

Provide continuous and maximum hot-gas temperature.

STEP 04

Check Medium

Gas composition and dust loading must remain compatible with the fan configuration.

STEP 05

Select Configuration

Confirm size, speed, C/D/F arrangement, motor and installation interface.

W9-28 includes several published speeds such as 730, 960, 1400, 1440, 1450, 2600 and 2900 r/min. For overseas projects where 50 Hz / 60 Hz and motor poles affect speed, see Motor Poles, RPM and 50Hz/60Hz Fan Speed .

Engineering Review

What Changes in a High-Temperature Fan Project

High-temperature fan selection is not only an aerodynamic calculation. Thermal expansion, bearing environment, gas composition, dust loading, motor arrangement and installation interfaces must also be considered before production.

01

Continuous vs Peak Temperature

Both normal operating temperature and short-duration maximum temperature should be provided.

02

Gas Composition

A high temperature rating does not automatically make the fan suitable for corrosive or reactive process gases.

03

Dust Loading

Original series documentation specifies dust content below 150 mg/m³. Higher or abrasive loading requires separate evaluation.

04

Bearing & Cooling Arrangement

Bearing environment and cooling details depend on fan size, temperature and selected mechanical configuration.

05

Rotation & Outlet Position

Available outlet directions vary by configuration. Rotation and discharge orientation should be confirmed from the project duct layout.

06

Motor & Power Supply

Motor power, voltage, frequency and starting method are confirmed according to the selected operating point and destination market.

If the required fan size is not yet known, start from our Industrial Fan Selection process and send the actual project duty instead of guessing a model.

Buyer FAQ

W9-28 High Temperature Centrifugal Fan FAQ

01

Can every W9-28 fan operate continuously at 550°C?

No. The original series description gives a maximum medium-temperature boundary of 550°C, while individual published configurations have different working temperatures. Final suitability must be checked against the selected size and actual duty.

02

What type of gas can the W9-28 handle?

The series is intended for non-corrosive and non-self-igniting high-temperature gas. Other chemical or hazardous media require separate material and safety evaluation.

03

What is the published dust concentration limit?

The original W9-28 series description specifies dust content below 150 mg/m³.

04

Why does the W9-28 series use C, D and F drive arrangements?

Different fan sizes and duties use different mechanical layouts. The selected arrangement affects motor location, bearing configuration, foundation dimensions and overall installation.

05

Can the motor be supplied for my country's voltage and frequency?

Yes. The motor can be reviewed according to the selected fan power and the required project voltage, frequency and phase.

06

Is the No.9D drawing valid for every W9-28 model?

No. It is provided as a representative installation drawing only. Final dimensions must be taken from the approved GA drawing for the selected W9-28 configuration.

07

Can QIYUE provide a GA drawing before production?

The project configuration can be reviewed from the confirmed duty point, selected fan size, drive arrangement, duct interfaces and installation conditions before final production documentation is issued.

08

What should I send for a high-temperature replacement fan?

Send the existing nameplate, airflow, pressure, temperature, motor data, rotation, inlet and outlet dimensions, foundation information and site photographs where available.
