A Dust Collection Fan Must Match the Complete Resistance Route
The fan must maintain capture airflow through hoods, branches, ducts, collectors, filters and discharge points. Weak capture is often caused by underestimated resistance, filter loading, duct imbalance or an unsuitable fan position rather than by fan size alone.

Clean-Side vs Dirty-Side Dust Collection Fan Arrangement
Fan position changes what passes through the impeller. It affects wear exposure, residual dust load, leakage direction, maintenance and which fan family should be reviewed.

Review particle hardness, concentration, buildup and wear. C6-48 can be reviewed for light dust, wood chips and fine fibers after confirming the operating point. Abrasive particles normally need pre-separation or separate wear review.

Baghouse / Filter Resistance
9-19 / 9-26 Review
Include clean-filter and loaded-filter pressure drop, duct loss and outlet resistance. These are normally clean- or reduced-dust-side directions.

Separate Engineering Review

Dust Collection Fan Selection Questions
What is a dust collection fan used for?
It maintains the suction and conveying airflow needed to move dust-laden air through capture hoods, ducts, collectors, filters and the final discharge route.
Should the fan be before or after the dust collector?
It depends on the system. A clean-side fan reduces direct dust exposure; a dirty-side fan requires particle, wear and buildup review because dust passes through the impeller.
When should C6-48 be reviewed?
C6-48 can be reviewed for light dust, wood chips, sawdust, fine fibers and similar loose particles after confirming particle size, resistance and fan position.
When should 9-19 or 9-26 be reviewed?
They are pressure-oriented directions for higher-resistance systems such as long ducts and baghouse exhaust, normally after suitable dust separation or filtration.
Can a general ventilation fan be used for dust collection?
Only when the air has been suitably filtered and the remaining dust, temperature and gas condition are within the fan's confirmed limits. Raw dusty air requires another direction.
