Description

The Industrial Axial Roof Exhaust Fan is engineered for high-volume, low-static-pressure exhaust applications across commercial and industrial facilities. Mounted directly onto roof curbs or integrated roof penetrations, this unit discharges air vertically away from the roofline to prevent structural degradation and air re-entrainment. Configured for direct-drive or belt-drive operation, it provides continuous air exchange for large enclosed spaces requiring heavy heat or contaminant removal.

Key Features

Direct & Belt Drive Configurations: Direct-drive units minimize maintenance requirements by eliminating belts and pulleys; belt-drive units allow adjustable RPM to fine-tune airflow on-site.

Gravity or Motorized Dampers: Integrated butterfly or backdraft dampers prevent outside air infiltration and backflow when the fan is de-energized.

Weather-Resistant Housing: Heavy-gauge spun aluminum or galvanized steel hoods protect internal components from direct rain, snow, and UV exposure.

Bird & Debris Screens: Heavy-duty galvanized or stainless steel mesh guards prevent wildlife and foreign objects from entering the exhaust stack.

Lifting Lugs: Factory-welded lifting eyes on the housing base ensure safe, balanced rigging during crane placement on site.

Construction & Working Principle

Air is drawn upward through the intake cone, accelerated across the airfoil or flat-blade axial impeller, and discharged vertically through the exhaust stack.

Housing & Curb Cap: Constructed from 1.5 mm to 3.0 mm marine-grade aluminum (Alloy 3003/5052) or G90 galvanized steel. All structural seams are continuously TIG/MIG welded to ensure absolute waterproof integrity at the roof interface.

Impeller Assembly: Multi-blade impellers utilize cast aluminum or glass-reinforced polypropylene (PP) blades, dynamically balanced to ISO 1940 Grade 2.5 standards to reduce vibration transmission to the building structure.

Motor Mounts & Engineering Practice: Heavy-gauge structural steel motor plates are laser-cut and CNC-formed. To prevent bearing failure-the primary cause of premature roof fan burnout-our motor mounting plates are precision-aligned using laser interferometry to maintain shaft tolerances under continuous high thermal loads.

Applications

Manufacturing Plants: Exhausting welding fumes, machine oil mist, and industrial process heat.

Warehouses & Logistics Centers: Relieving thermal stratification beneath metal roofs during summer months.

Commercial Kitchens: Removing grease-laden air (when specified with grease-rated backward-inclined or specialized axial configurations and cleanout ports).

Chemical & Wastewater Facilities: Expelling corrosive gases utilizing specialized protective coatings.

Available Options

Materials of Construction: 304 or 316 stainless steel for highly corrosive or marine environments.

Coatings: Epoxy powder coating, polyurethane paint systems, or anti-static finishes for explosive atmospheres (ATEX/IECEx compliant components).

Motors: IE3/NEMA Premium efficiency motors, Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC), or explosion-proof (Class I, Div 1/2) variants compatible with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

Roof Curbs: Prefabricated self-flashing steel or aluminum curbs with internal acoustic insulation and wood nailers.

Manufacturing & Quality

Production operations run on CNC laser cutting centers, robotic press brakes, and automated spinning lathes to maintain dimensional tolerances within +/-0.5 mm.

Balancing & Testing: Every completed impeller assembly undergoes computer-controlled dynamic balancing. Finished fans are run-tested on a test bench for current draw, vibration velocity (mm/s), and RPM verification prior to crating.
Quality Standards: Manufacturing processes comply with ISO 9001 quality management protocols. Air performance ratings adhere to AMCA Standard 210, and acoustic performance is measured in accordance with AMCA Standard 300.

FAQ

Q: How do I select the correct static pressure rating for a roof exhaust fan?

A: Calculate the total system resistance by adding duct friction losses, elbow/transition losses, gravity damper pressure drops, and building negative pressure requirements. Match these values against the fan curve to ensure it operates to the right of the stall region.

Q: What is the difference between direct-drive and belt-drive models for roof applications?

A: Direct-drive fans transmit motor power directly to the shaft, eliminating belt wear, slip, and routine tensioning maintenance. Belt-drive fans allow pulley ratio adjustments to alter fan speed post-installation, accommodating changes in required airflow rates.

Q: Can these fans be controlled via a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)?

A: Yes, when paired with inverter-duty motors (NEMA MG1 Part 31 compliant or equivalent IEC standards), units operate safely across variable frequencies. Note that operating below 30Hz for extended periods may require auxiliary motor cooling fans.

Q: How does the unit prevent roof leaks during heavy rain or snowstorms?

A: The one-piece spun curb cap features an extended downward overhang that drops past the roof curb flashing. Internal wind-band designs and continuous welded drainage channels route moisture away from the curb throat.

Q: What certifications and test standards do your fans meet?

A: Units are manufactured under ISO 9001 guidelines. Air and sound performance parameters follow AMCA testing standards, and electrical assemblies carry UL or CE compliance marks along with IE3/NEMA Premium efficiency motor ratings.

Q: How are the fans packaged for international ocean freight to prevent housing distortion?

A: Units are secured to reinforced fumigated wooden pallets using custom-welded steel bracing frames. The spun aluminum or steel hoods are decoupled and packed with high-density edge protectors, and internal components are wrapped in VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) film to survive long-haul maritime transport without panel deformation or weather damage.
